Blender 2.42

I guess, that everybody has noticed, that new version of Blender was released. It seems, that some bug fix release will be neccessary soon. It will go out probably in Sunday and after this date ... verse blender will go to main cvs tree. Finaly! :-) I still have to improved, fixed and implemented many things. :-(

Scientific visualization in Blender

I just have to do visualisation of some data from scientific simulation (flowing of fluids) for our dean. I do it in Blender. I have to work with some data for GMSH. It's open source visualiser, but it is limited in several ways. For example, you can't create any nice looking animation ;-). I had to write some python import scripts: msh_import.py and pos_import.py. I'm able to import geometry, materials and scalar/vector data from simulation now.

TV antena

I would like to give a notice, than Lukáš Bílek, young and talented student, received special award at Animofest 2006 for his short animation called TV antena. Of course, this animation was created in Blender.

Verse Blender & Film Festival in Karlovy Vary

Some news from verse-blender development. I have hardly work every day at verse-blender again since my return from Internationa Film Festival in Karlovy Vary. This film festival is very cool and I suggest to everybody to go there and see many cool films. I shame, but don't have any photos from Karlovy Vary. OTOH , I have this cool Festival poster:

Trip of our Department

Most of members of our Department of Aplied Informatics ware at very nice trip in Všemily. Our boss had took severals nice photos.

Bye, bye, SGI

It seems, that SGI is definitely dead. It's pity, because this firm has produced cool workstations. I can proudly say, that I had chance to work with SGI O2, ONYX2 and Origin workstations/servers

Bankruptcy of SGI could be problem for some 3rd parties, for example for Autodesk(Discreet) and Linux. Why? Autodesk produces hi-end applications running at IRIX. Development of NUMA and XFS has been widely supported by SGI.

Workplace

Hi, I'm stil alive, but I was too lazy to send any news to this blog. Any news in my life? I have new gf and I changed my work place. I still study/teach at Technical University in Liberec, but you can find me in room of our department.

New version of Blender was released. This release is focused on improvements and bug fixes in game engine.
